About me

I’m Vítek Sháněl, and I bring nearly two decades of dedicated experience in mechanical engineering and applied mechanics to the Strength Analysis Academy. For the last 18 years, my studying and professional endeavors have been deeply rooted in the strength of materials. I have devoted the past 15 years to mastering the Finite Element Method (FEM), developing both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise.

My career includes over six years as a Mechanical Engineer in Research and Development at the Czech Technical University in Prague and four years dedicated to basic research of FEM at the Czech Academy of Sciences. This foundation allowed me to transition seamlessly into industry roles.

For the last eight and a half years, I have served as an FEA Specialist at COLT CZ Group (Česká zbrojovka, a.s.), concentrating on finite element analysis in firearm development. Concurrently, I’m engaged with Cardam s.r.o., a pioneering research and development company devoted to advanced simulations and additive technologies. These roles highlight my commitment to leveraging engineering solutions and fostering innovation.

My project experience includes developing methodologies for assessing the resilience of firefighting ladders and designing specialized vehicles for the Czech EOD (Bomb Squad) service. I’m also proud to contribute to the European Defence Agency’s (EDA) AMALIA project, which aims to revolutionize ballistic armor through additive manufacturing. Supported by EDA Member States, the project focuses on extensive numerical simulations to explore material responses and optimize manufacturing processes.

I’ve continuously expanded my skills through self-learning, particularly in programming with Python, which I use primarily for processing large amounts of data and developing tools that assist with simulations. This expertise enhances my analytical capabilities and streamlines the complex processes involved in my work.
